In my original 3 Day Refresh post, I talked about my skepticism about the program and why I decided to give it a try. In this post, I’m going to give you my honest thoughts after going through the 3-day program. What worked, what didn’t. What I hated and what I loved about the program. Just because I’m a Beachbody coach, I don’t have to love all of their products and give them raving reviews. I strive to be an honest coach and not sell you bullshit you don’t need.
So without further ado, here is my review.
I managed to stick to this program for the full 3 days. I figured if I paid money for the supplements I had better follow through and not bullshit around. I do have to admit this was easier to follow than I thought it would be. My day included waking up and drinking a 16oz glass of water, Shakeology and a banana for breakfast, Fiber sweep mid-morning (this is basically Beachbody’s version of Citrucel), vanilla fresh (a protein shake), a small serving of vegetables with a side of hummus and an apple for lunch, another serving of vegetables and hummus as an afternoon snack and a cooked fresh vegetable meal for dinner. A cleanse I can eat on is a good cleanse to me. I like food.
During the day while I was working I was perfectly fine with this meal plan. And to be honest I ate more on this plan than I normally eat during the day at work and it was healthier items. I still cooked regular meals for my husband and two kids. While the veggies I ate for my dinner were delicious. The smell from the meals I cooked for my family nearly killed me. Well, not literally, but you get my point. The evenings were definitely the hardest part for me.
Following 3 Day Refresh taught me a lot about my bad habits. For example, I figured out that I have a horrible habit of mindlessly snacking after I pick my kids up from school. They go to the cabinets to grab their snacks and so do I. So I figured out I needed to either kick that habit or grab healthier snacks.
How to Survive 3 Day Refresh
This brings me to how I figured out how to better survive day 2 and 3 on 3 Day Refresh. On day 1 I basically went through my morning and afternoon food by 2 pm. So by dinner time I was STARVING. Starving while cooking a meal for your family that you can’t eat makes for a hangry momma. Oh and remember that whole snacking after picking the kids up from school habit? Well, that was out of the question on day 1. So for day 2 and 3, I learned from my mistakes on day 1 and spread things out a little. I spread my lunch items out throughout the afternoon because I really wasn’t hungry enough to eat them all in one sitting anyways. That left me some time to have my mid-afternoon veggie snack at home after I picked the kids up. This made for a much nicer mom.
What were my results? I lost 2 lbs and got rid of my bloat. I wasn’t really concerned with the weight. The biggest thing I wanted and what I got was more energy. I woke up the day after I finished 3 Day Refresh and kicked my workout in the ass. Before 3 Day Refresh, I was struggling with my workouts, big time. All of the junk food had finally caught up to me. But 3 Day Refresh cleared my system of that junk and got me back on track.
Would I do 3 Day Refresh again? Probably not. At least it is my hope that I won’t have to resort to doing it again. I only did 3 Day Refresh because I had let myself fall so far off track that I felt like I actually needed this program to get my shit together. I don’t want to get myself back to that place again so that I feel like I need 3 Day Refresh.
Who do I recommend 3 Day Refresh for?
I recommend 3 Day Refresh for people like myself who have let themselves fall off track or for people who are looking for a place to kickstart their body back into good health.
I think one of the things that has always bothered me about 3 Day Refresh is that I’ve seen coaches use this program as an excuse to splurge. “Oh, I’ll go off my clean eating and eat all of the things around me because I know I can just do 3 Day Refresh.” That whole planning to fall off the wagon mentality bothers me. Hell, we all fall off the wagon from time to time, but I don’t agree with using 3 Day Refresh as a reason to be able to sabotage yourself. But hey, that’s just my little opinion.
