Household chores are a normal routine. In fact, they are so routine that many times we don’t really think that much about them aside from just getting them done. In order to keep things clean and tidy, it’s important that you make sure to complete each chore correctly. It’s easy to feel the need to push through chores as fast as possible when you have children to take care of and work to do. Stopping to examine the way you’re doing your chores, however, could help you realize you’re not doing them properly. We offer this list to help you double-check the household chores you’re doing wrong.
Not Paying Attention To Your Ceiling Fan
Your ceiling fan is one of the biggest collectors of dust and grime throughout your house. It can be easy for you to miss spots on your ceiling fan, as it is usually hard to reach and takes a bit of effort to access safely. Unfortunately, many people neglect their fans entirely. If you or your children have allergies, the collected dust can be a massive irritant. One helpful method to clean your fan is to use a pillowcase. Wipe the surfaces and turn the pillowcase inside out to hold the dust.
Putting Kitchen Knives Through a Dishwasher
The dishwasher is an extremely convenient machine that makes after-meal clean-up much more efficient. The trouble is that some items should never go into the dishwasher, including kitchen knives. The process of the dishwasher can dull the blade of the knife over time. This not only makes the knife ineffective but can also make it more dangerous to use. Be careful and handwash your knives instead.
Doing Laundry With Too Much Detergent
If you are using even a little too much detergent, then laundry is one of the household chores you’re doing wrong. It is common that people want to fill the cap to the top with the detergent. However, putting too much detergent in the laundry can make your close greasy, as the soap suds can trap bacteria in the fabric. The detergent container usually has directions on it for how much soap you should use with each load of laundry.
Cleaning and Polishing Your Windows Incorrectly
Cleaning your windows properly is always important. Not only do you want them to look nice, but a lack of proper cleaning can lead to problems with the window’s function. Eventually, the window can even deteriorate so badly that you will need to replace it. Many times, people think they’ve cleaned the glass correctly but have actually left it horribly streaked. Learning what products you should use to correctly clean glass is a significant part of knowing how to effectively clean your home’s windows.
I’d like to suggest/add one that goes along with the washer getting too much detergent:
Overloading the dryer! If you find yourself needing to run the drying cycle multiple times because the clothes are still damp it’s either:
A) Lint in the trap! empty it out. Fire hazard.
B) Too many clothes/towels/sheets in the dryer and they’re not cycling around with the air efficiently. Fire hazard!
Either way, too much of anything in these machines is no good!
