It’s been several months since I’ve been running on a regular basis. Not running has sent me into a spiral of other bad habits. In order to get my running groove back, I’m going to have to change some of my current habits and mindset.
More Strength Training
Strength training isn’t exactly something that I push myself on. I tend to do the bare minimum on my strength training workouts and blame it on not having the right weights. No more excuses. It’s time to get some heavier weights and get the work done.
No More Mindless Nighttime Snacking
I’ve been the world’s worst nightime snacker here lately. And it hasn’t been healthy snacks. I feel like my late night snacking habits are having a significant effect on my weight, which is having a significant effect on my running. No snacks after 7 pm.
No More Soda
Do I really need to say anything more about this? I’ve been drinking soda and I need to stop drinking soda. Enough said.
More Meditation and Positive Self-Talk
I’ve been really beating myself up lately. Lots of negative self-talk has been going on. I haven’t been feeling successful in anything I’m doing. And I’ve just been overwhelmed. It’s time for me to stop with the negative thoughts and start meditating and talking to myself in a positive voice.
No More Weekday Drinking
There is nothing quite like unwinding from a busy day with a good craft brew. Those craft brews are high in calories and carbs. So no more weekday drinking for me. *sad face*
I’ve got my work cut out for me, but I know I can do this. Do you all have any tips for getting back into a running mindset?
Wow! This post has me thinking about changing some things in my life! Thanks for the kick in the butt lol
Definitely need to work on snacking and going consistently for a run! It’s hard right now being home all the time!
That mindless snacking is what gets me! What I can’t give up though will be my wine during the week…
Totally agree . Strength training is my number one in the list .
Definitely needed to read this! I’ve been making excuses since baby was born, but at this point I’m just being lazy!
Positive self talk should be right up there , every single morning .It is so difficult some days to just get out of bed these days, let alone be prodcutive. Let along exercise.. But one step at a time , 🙂 pun intended.
These are good points to think about. I need to work on getting back to a fitness routine and I really like your ideas.
I’ve used to run alot and I would love to get back into it.
Couch to 5k can be super helpful for newbies or those getting back into it!
No more weekday drinking is EXACTLY what I need to do to get on an exercise routine!
A good exercise routine, drinking enough water and being generally positive is a good way to stay in shape
This pandemic has really opened my eyes to the importance of taking care of our health. Mindset is such a game changer! It will help you achieve your goals and focus on it.
So motivating! It’s important to stay hydrated and healthy
Yes to everything, but weekday drinking. I am a mom of three I need a glass of wine or gin and tonic in the evening.
Trying my best you know, I will try to apply these on my life…. I need them.
I would love to start running again, and I think it is something that would be good to start soon. I will be using your tips!
Strength training is so important not only for your overall healthy but mainly for your heart.
I keep thinking of trying to get started on running ; but should start with strengthtraining first I think..
These are good points and motivation. We need to stay focus to achieve our goals.
Glad you are getting back into running. I am starting my weightloss journey, so I am not running yet. One day I will be.
I totally agree with these insights. Thanks for sharing.
