Labor Day Weekend On Blue Ridge Parkway: Day 1

It’s Labor Day weekend! And guess what?! We don’t have any plans at all! No dinner plans, meetings or events we promised to attend. We are FREE!! So what do we do with this free time? We decided to take a chance with no hotel or campsite reservations and head to North Carolina to take one of our all time favorite drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway and do a little hiking along the way. This is my report on day 1 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We started on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Maggie Valley, NC. I have…

    Tennessee Aquarium of Chattanooga

Confession: I LOVE going to aquariums! They are seriously one of the coolest things to me! So, naturally, when the opportunity came up to visit The Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, I jumped on it! Living in Knoxville, Chattanooga is just 2 hours away which makes it a great destination for day trips or a nice weekend trip if you want to get away. I’m only focusing on the aquarium today, but I can see a more in depth blog post in the future! The aquarium itself is split into two buildings: River Journey and Ocean Journey. Each building is multiple…

Things to Do During a Midweek Staycation in the Smokies

This week my family and I took advantage to this enormous playground and decided to have an impromptu midweek staycation in the Smokies. We didn’t really have any set plans when we left the house. We just packed up the car with our tent, sleeping bags, swim suits and a change of clothes. It seems like every time we go to the mountains we always wish we had brought our stuff so we could stay the night. Well this time we did! Clingman’s Dome No Smokies staycation would be complete without a little hike. Even though it was an overcast…

Mom Elite Visits Space: The Kennedy Space Center

While we were on vacation we were lucky enough to be able to visit the Kennedy Space Center. We originally planned our day so that we would be there for the Space X rocket launch. Unfortunately the rocket launch was rescheduled for the Sunday following our visit, our first day back home from our vacation. Missing the rocket launch was really just about the only bad, uncontrollable experience (or lack of experience) from our visit to the Space Center. We started our visit to the Kennedy Space Center with a tour of the rocket garden. The rocket garden is a great…

    St Augustine Family Guide

My family and I made our third trip up to St Augustine because we love it so much. This is a city that is full of history and life. St Augustine is getting ready to celebrate it’s 450th anniversary. Their vibrant downtown boasts many things to do from museums, places to shop, restaurants and bars to their beautiful waterfront. Ponce De Leon Fountain Of Youth Archaeological Park The first place we visited in St Augustine was the Ponce de Leon Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park. This park is located in the area that was first explored by Ponce de Leon.…
