Persil Laundry Detergent

The Persil® brand provided me with a sample of Persil® ProCleanTM laundry detergent in exchange for a product review.  However, all the opinions expressed here are my own.

I stepped out of my comfort zone to do this review for you all. I’ve been using the same laundry detergent for years and I’ve been very happy with it. It’s inexpensive and easy on my sons sensitive skin. I’ve been sent a package of assorted detergent by the brand Persil. I’ve never heard of this brand so I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous about trying something new, even if they claim to be the best laundry detergent for towels and clothes.

A little background about Persil:

  • Persil is made by the company Henkel in Germany
  • Persil was introduced in Europe in 1907
  • The name, “Persil”, is derived from two of its original ingredients, sodium perborate and silicate.

They sent me three different types of detergent: original scented liquid detergent, original scented pods and pro-clean power pearls. I’m a liquid detergent kind of girl so that was the first one I tried. I put a load of towels in and washed them like I normally would with the Persil liquid detergent. I was pleasantly surprised at the smell. I normally don’t like scented detergents, but this one was actually alright and my towels felt just as clean as they are when they are washed with my regular detergent I use.

Persil Power Pearls

Now I will be honest, I was a little stumped on how to use the pods and the pro-clean power pearls. I am no June Cleaver and I have a brand new front loader washing machine that I don’t want to screw up. So I went to my good oil washing machine manual to find out where to put each detergent. I took the cup out that I normally put the liquid detergent in and put the power pearls directly in the detergent holder. I through in a load of whites, including my white sheets and let it go. My sheets came out crisp, clean and white. Learn from my mistake with the pods and proceed with caution if they are stuck together. I tried to pull two apart that were stuck together and ended up popping it and spraying detergent all over myself. VERY gently pull the pods apart if they get stuck together!

Oh and you know that who sensitive skin issue I talked about earlier? So far in the week that we’ve been trying out Persil we have had no break outs and no itchy skin. For those who do have particularly sensitive skin Persil has a sensitive skin detergent that is dye free. I will continue to use Persil and even try some of their other formulas they have to offer. My only complaint about Persil is that it is only sold at Wal-mart. Hopefully as the brand gains popularity they will extend their market in the US.
