I’m always on the look out for healthy snacks for my family. My 3 year old son LOVES granola bars. His love for granola bars sounds great, but unfortunately not all granola bars are healthy. Some are packed with sugar. And some are just too dense. I recently had the chance to try out KIND Healthy Grains Bars. I was honestly expecting another granola bar disappointment since I’ve tried lots of packaged granola bars I just didn’t like. I was actually pleasantly surprised with KIND Healthy Grains Bars.
KIND Healthy Grains come in 5 flavors, Dark Chocolate Chunk, Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate, Vanilla Blueberry, Maple Pumpkin Seeds with Sea Salt, Oats & Honey with Toasted Coconut. The ingredients are gluten free and non-gmo and include amaranth, quinoa, gluten-free oats, millet and buckwheat. Pictured below are the nutrition fact for the Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate bar.
I can honestly say that I really liked the flavor of all of the bars. Vanilla Blueberry tastes just like a blueberry muffin. My son’s favorite was of course dark chocolate chunk. My favorite if I had to pick one is Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate, although I think Maple Pumpkin Seeds with Sea Salt came in close second. After we went through all of the flavors sent to us I actually went to the store to buy more. I really think this is going to be my go-to granola bar.
The downsides: While the flavor and ingredients are light this makes the granola bars a little more on the crumbly side. They are small and portable, but if I were to throw them in our backpack for a hiking trip they would likely crumble in their package. And because they are lighter than most granola bars they are good for a snack, but not necessarily for a meal replacement like other granola bars.
Overall I’m really happy with these granola bars and will be purchasing them again. The prices for a box of 5 are easily comparable to other granola bars. So far I’ve been able to find them at my local Target and Kroger. You can also order them online.
