Having to take a face mask with you when you go out has become a new part of reality for a lot of people. The usual mantra of “keys, wallet, phone” has now become “keys, wallet, phone, mask”. But it can still be so easy to forget your mask, meaning you either have to go back for it or buy a new one. Remembering to take it with you isn’t exactly simple when it’s something that’s relatively new to your life. Fortunately, there are some things that you can do to make it easier to remember your mask and ensure you’re wearing or carrying it when you walk out the door.
Buy Fun Face Masks
Getting some face masks that you like could be helpful if you want to remember them. If you like the print on your mask, you might feel more positive about wearing it and even make it part of your outfit. The designs at The Mountain offer some examples of fun masks that could get you more excited about wearing one. Colorful masks are also easier to spot so you could more easily remember to pick up your mask and take it with you. There are all sorts of colors, prints and styles to try.

Keep Masks in Useful Places
It helps to have more than one mask. If you have at least two, you can wash one while you wear the other. When you have a number of masks, you can also store them in different places so that you always have one with you. Put one in your car so that you have one whenever you drive somewhere. Keep one in the bag that you normally use, or put one in each of the bags that you use regularly. You could even put one in your jacket pocket, so it’s ready to grab.
Set Reminders for Yourself
A reminder before you leave home can help you to make sure you remember your mask. You could set an alarm on your phone to remind you to take your mask just before you leave. You could also put up a sign on the front door or somewhere else prominent that tells you to take your mask with you. Consider a reminder that will work for you. Maybe your coffee mug has a note on it to remind you, or you even get someone else to remind you.
Replace It When You Take It Off
When you take off your mask, whether it’s at home or when you get back in your car, make sure you put it back where you need it. Put it back into your pocket or bag, or back on top of the dashboard in your car. Or put it back in a logical place at home, where you will see it when you next go out the door. Then you will always know where it is when you need it.
Use these tips to remember your face mask whenever you go out, whether you’re going to work or going shopping.
It really helped when you said that I should set an alarm that will help me remember to take a mask before I leave the house. The cases in our area are slowly decreasing but I still want to be careful. I wonder if local hospitals are getting their wholesale supply of N95 surgical masks.
