We recently discovered an awesome family friendly town that is just a 4 hour drive from us, Charlotte, NC. Our trip to Charlotte came about because my daughter had a band competition and got to spend the afternoon at Carowinds. We decided rather than drive back home to spend the night in Charlotte and check it out.
During our short stay in Charlotte we discovered that this city has a lot to offer. Between the thriving downtown and attractions galore it would be hard to be bored in Charlotte. Here are just a few awesome family friendly things to do in Charlotte.
Carowinds is a super fun amusement park. It is packed with tons of roller coaster for all ages, games, shows and food. We had a blast visiting Carowinds. You can read more about our trip to Carowinds with our tips here.
Discovery Place is a fantastic children’s science museum located in uptown Charlotte. Kids and adults will be able to immerse themselves into a variety of exhibits, labs and live shows. The touch tank is a favorite where kids can get up close and personal with a variety of aquatic life including sea urchins and horseshoe crabs.
Great Wolf Lodge Water Park
Looking for a place to swim, slide and stay? Check out Great Wolf Lodge Water Park. This indoor waterpark is open year round. Your family won’t get bored with the 5 water slides, obstacle courses and kid areas.
Tiger Wold Endangered Wildlife Preserve
Take a walk on the wild side and support the Tiger World Endangered Wildlife Preserve. You can take a guided tour or do a self guided tour at this non-profit preserve. You’ll get a chance to see a variety of tigers, lions, reptiles and birds. Some of these animals are endangered or extinct from living in the wild. This is definitely a place worth checking out.
Knights Baseball Game
Got a sports fan in the family? Take them to a Knights baseball game. Each night has a different theme. Catch some fireworks, see some famous baseball players or make a splash. The baseball fan in your family is sure to have a good time at one of these games.
