Working out during a quarantine

Working out during a quarantine

We are all facing new and various challenges when it comes to working out during the quarantine. We have lost access to our gyms and personal trainers. In some areas you aren’t even allowed to leave your house or apartment to walk, run or bike. And some people are struggling to find the energy to work out.

I’m going to give you some tips on workouts you can do from home, ways to stay motivated and resources to keep you moving.

At Home Workouts

Beachbody On Demand

Beachbody On Demand has been my go-to streaming service for workouts since they launched the site. You can have access to all of Beachbody’s workouts for a low monthly or yearly price. Some of my favorite workout programs from Beachbody are The 100’s, Core De Force, PiYo and T25. They release new programs every few months so you will never get bored.

Do Yoga With Me

Do Yoga With Me is a website with tons of free yoga classes. You can upgrade your account to a premium account for access to more classes. But you can find plenty of great classes without signing up. If you do decide to give it a try they are offering 2 months free during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Daily Burn

Daily Burn is another well known streaming workout service. They have a great variety of classes for beginners to advanced. You can enroll in programs to get daily reminders for a new workout every day.

Other Workout Options

Walking/Running

If you have the ability to walk or run around your neighborhood, do it! Not only will you get a good workout, but you will also get some great vitamin D therapy. And you might even see some neighbors that you can talk to from a safe distance.

Biking

I’ve been sending my kids out on their bikes every pretty day that we have. It’s a great low impact way to get some exercise and it’s fun.

Yard Work

Since I have been having to stay at home my husband and I have been doing so much yard work. Let me tell you it is a fantastic workout. Try raking those leaves that have been left behind. Or trimming bushes that have been neglected. Build a garden for some good sustainable food. Now is our time to use some of that free time that we never seem to have to work on the things we have been neglecting.

Having trouble with motivation? Get some friends involved. Host a zoom call to talk about your struggles and give each other motivation. Give each other weekly or daily challenges. Turn working out into a game. Just don’t let yourself get stuck in a rut. When you workout it will boost your spirits and make this quarantine a little easier.

  1. So important to stay active and healthy…specially during this very confusing time! I am a kids fitness instructor so I have now moved all my classes online…so my kids and myself get 2 good workouts done everyday! Look after yourselves…x

  2. These are good workouts to do while we are in quarantine. I have to be more consistent about getting exercise, so I’ll have to check out the online workouts.

  3. It’s been so difficult for me to get motivated to work out at home. My husband has been so good about it lately.

  4. I’ve definitely been working out this past week. It’s definitely been helping with my productivity, and focus. I’ll definitely be adding some of these workouts into my routine. Thanks for sharing.
