Prepare for Success

If possible, you have to try and plan out your family meals ahead. You can then make sure that your family have healthy snacks to eat between meals, so you can avoid everyone binging on chocolate and sweets before every meal. If you have healthy food options available at your family’s fingertips, then this will make it much easier for you to implement a positive change. Just make sure that you do not go grocery shopping when hungry, or this may encourage you to pick up way more junk food and this is the last thing that you need.

Make Cooking Simple

A good rule would be for you to try and keep things simple when you are trying to prepare healthy meals for your family. Ideally, you need to try and avoid any recipes that contain a lot of ingredients or a lot of steps. Simple dishes, that can be grilled or even baked, without too many ingredients are all ideal, especially if you can incorporate fresh vegetables or starch.

Keep your Meat Lean

When you buy meat, it is wise for you to try and make sure that you are buying the leanest cuts, that do not have any fat or skin. You also need to remove any visible fat before you go ahead and prepare your family meals. Ideally, ground meat should be at least 95% lean. If you want, you can try and change out around 30% of your minced beef for minced turkey. Things like this are ideal if you want to cut down on the amount of calories that your family are having, so be mindful of that if you can. If you need some great meat, check out Superior Farms.

Non-Stick Cookware

If you want to prepare your family meals then you ideally need to buy cookware that is non-stick. This will help you to use way less oil and it also gives you the chance to use water to lift up any stuck meat. If you take care of your non-stick cookware as per the manufacturer’s instructions then this will extend the lifecycle drastically, so be mindful of this if you can.

Change the Way you Cook

Poaching, grilling, and baking are all better than frying. Do not use butter to baste your meat either, try and baste it with vegetable broth, white wine or even orange juice. Things like this can contain way less fat and they are also great options if you want to add even more flavor, so make sure that you keep that in mind when the time comes for you to plan out your meals.
