Imaginations Run Wild with Yo-kai Watch

This post was sponsored by Nintendo as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review.

yokai watch

4th grade has been a fun, but challenging year for my daughter. It’s been a year full of learning and testing. Right before Spring break she had to take their big test of the year, TN Ready. When I found out I had the opportunity to let her do a video game review for Nintendo’s Yokai Watch I jumped on it. After all of her hard work between school and after school activities she deserves a little fun time. And her idea of fun is playing video games.

What is Yokai Watch?

Yo-kai Watch is a video game craze in Japan, and this is the first time it’s available in the United States. Yo-kai Watch is available on Nintendo 2DS, 3DS and 3DSXL. The object of Yo-kai Watch is to find and befriend (not capture, as I was corrected by my daughter) Yo-kai. Yo-kai are little mischievous creatures that all have different powers. My daughter especially loves finding her favorite Yo-kai and participating in battles with other Yo-kai. The battle system is easy and straight forward for kids to understand. They can choose which Yo-kai they want to send into battle.

Yo-Kai Watch Streetpass Features

If you allow your child to use the Streetpass feature they will be able to find Yo-kai in Wayfarer Manor. You can recieve special items or battle with these Yo-kai.

Ages for Yo-kai Watch?

Along with my 10 year old daughter I have a 5 year old son. As a gamer, he also enjoys playing Yo-kai Watch. My 10 year old believes this game would be good for kids from 5 years old to middle school. I could even see this game being one that my “kid at heart” friends could get into.
