The coronavirus pandemic has dramatically changed all of our lives. Rather than our day to day routines, many of us are now confined to our own homes, spending hours inside, not at work, with the kids off school and with a whole lot of time on our hands. Now, it’s absolutely essential that we follow lockdown rules and guidelines. This is for your own sake, the sake of those who live with you, the sake of others and the sake of key workers such as nurses, doctors, supermarket workers and the rest of society. But this doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to sit staring at the four walls day in and day out. There are a number of different things you can do from the comfort of your own home to keep your mind occupied and your spirits up. Here are a few to consider!
Baking
So few of us bake on a regular basis. But now we have a lot more time on our hands, it’s becoming an option for many of us. Not only can you pick up a useful skill by baking, but you can keep yourself occupied for an hour or even more and you get a tasty treat at the end for your efforts! Now, you’ll need a few basics. Some baking tins. A mixing bowl. A whisk. You’ll also need basic ingredients – find a recipe you want to follow for specific ingredients, but most cakes will call for flour, butter or margarine and egg or an egg replacement. You can get started quickly and easily and this is a skill that you can improve upon quickly. It’s greatly rewarding!
Have a Reading Taken
If you’re into mediums, you may want to have a free psychic reading carried out while you’re in lockdown. Whether you believe it or not, this can be a fun way to pass the time and can give you something to consider and mull over afterwards.
Catch Up with Friends
Sure, we text our friends. We like their uploads on social media. We might exchange a few memes. But when’s the last time you had a proper conversation? Why not arrange a proper call – whether that’s just a phone call or a video call. It could be with a close friend. It could be with someone you haven’t spoken to in a long time. Whoever you choose, it’s a great time to catch up and lift each other’s spirits.
Exercise
We still need to get our recommended one hundred and fifty minutes of moderate aerobic exercise each week. So make it something fun. Do some yoga. Try pilates. Pick up some dance basics. Follow an online tutorial. Whatever you do, it can make you feel a lot better!
These are just a few options of fun things to try out during the pandemic. They can really help to make the entire situation more bearable!
I’ve been taking the opportunity to really go over things that are and are not working in our lives. I feel like I’m really getting somewhere and it’s been great!
Love it! I’m starting to run out of ideas lol!
We have been baking a lot over here and taking the time to exercise. These are great suggestions thanks!
These are such great ideas!
these are good ideas, i wish I had more time to read but now i’m busier than ever
I definitely need to get on the exercise one.
These are great. I’m trying my hands on baking
You come up with the best ideas!
I have been baking a lot and I recently started the couch to 5k app. I love running outside lately. It’s so therapeutic!
I’ve been cooking a LOT! Love the tips!
I have yet to video chat with my friends. I need to make it a priority.
Definitely doing a lot of chatting with friends lately! These are fun ideas.
We just reconnected with friends via zoom that we haven’t seen since 2002. It’s been so great!
Great ideas. Especially catching up with friends. We’ve been away from some of our closest friends for almost a decade and always have a difficult time keeping in touch. But during the pandemic it felt more natural to reach out and try to reconnect. It’s not like they’re going anywhere.
We’ve been trying to be more active, thankfully we’ve been able to start our backyard garden so that’s really helped us stay busy!!
We have been spending so much time outside! Stay healthy!
I’ve been baking. Banana bread muffins and cookies. Definitely a good way to pass the time.
baking yes, and creative ways to do so now after running out of flour.. 🙂
and all the others listed as well, and gardening
I like these ideas ! We have been baking a lot
These are great ideas. We have been baking almost every other day!
i have been doing a lot of catching up with people where i normally dont think about it because i dont have time
Haha, between DH and I both working full-time from home AND getting our kiddos through their virtual schooling appointments, we have not had time to get bored or go looking for things to do! We have been watching family movies more in the evenings, though, which is nice. Have to say, though, I did not know one could get a free psychic reading from home.
Great tips especially baking! We have been doing a lot of that!
These are wonderful ideas. Thank you for sharing.
Exercising is my favorite. Not only do I actually find it fun lol but it makes me feel so relaxed and happy afterwards.
