We had our first real “glamping trip” in our travel trailer. We’ve had friends tell us we aren’t really camping as we camp in our travel trailer and they camp in their tents. We kind of laughed it off and said: “We’re camping with A/C”. But I’ve gotta say camping at Anchor Down RV Resort almost felt like we were staying in a nice hotel for over half the price.
Amenities
We had full hookups at this resort which means we had electric, water and sewage hookups. If we had a tv we would have had cable tv as well. We also had access to free wifi. Now that, my friends is glamping.
Those amenities are just the tip of the iceberg. The resort had a gorgeous pool that overlooked the Smoky Mountains and Lake Douglas with a fantastic waterslide. The kids played in the pool for hours. They also had a clean beach for lake swimming. There were two inflated waterslides that went into the lake, a massive trampoline on the lake, an inflatable diving deck and another inflatable that I never quite figured out. Between the two swimming options, our kids swam just about the entire time we were at Anchor Down.
The resort as a whole was clean and very well taken care of. We had access to clean private bathrooms with showers that were just a short walking distance from our campsite. They had a great little camp store. We also had lunch at their little food truck by the pool. The burgers and chicken and fries were delicious.
Anchor Down is a resort that we will definitely be visiting again. The kids are already asking when we can go back. The only downside to Anchor Down was the lack of large trees to provide shade. The campground is still new and used to be farmland. They have trees planted so before we know it, they will have beautiful trees to provide ample shade. In the meantime, just pop your awning out over the picnic table and enjoy your vacation.

What a lovely place to take the family! I will have to ask my children to request a few days off of their work so we can go there as a family. The nice breeze, sunshine and fresh air and fun in the water are things to look forward to at Anchor Down Resort!

Indeed the Anchor Down resort is the ultimate lakeside resort! The view by the lake alone is so eye catching! And the many activities for kids to engage in too…I wouldn’t miss visiting such a place if I lived nearby.
